Making fruit smoothies

This week in Literacy, we have been learning about procedural writing. We planned to make a smoothie and discussed the different steps involved to prepare for the activity.

1. Wash your hands.

2. Wash the fruit.

3. Peel the fruit.

4. Put the fruit into the blender.

5. Twist the lid on the blender.

6. Switch on the blender.

7. Pour out the smoothie into glasses.

8. Drink and enjoy!

After tasting our delicious smoothies, we did some shared writing, recording the different steps involved in making the smoothies. We will be busy over the next few weeks coming up with our own pieces of procedural writing!

Spring Walk

Spring is here! Múinteoir Ailish's First class and Múinteoir Denise's Clever Acorns spent a lovely afternoon enjoying the spring sunshine in Merlin Woods and the surrounding area. The children discovered many signs of spring, including spring flowers such as daffodils, dandelions and daisies, as well as finding several buds on the trees! On their trip, the children also found many animal habitats. Spring is a very exciting time in nature, with signs of new life all around us!

Signs of Spring

The children in Múinteoir Ailish's class have been busy exploring the environment looking for signs of spring. They discovered spring flowers growing, saw leaves beginning to grow on trees, spotted birds building nests and found out that baby animals being born all around us. Spring is a wonderful time of year!

Seachtain na Gaeilge 2015

As part of Seachtain na Gaeilge, the children were very lucky to listen to a performance by our talented Colourstrings teacher, Katri and her friend. They performed some traditional Irish songs on musical instruments such as the harp, the bodhrán, the fiddle and the flute. Bhain na páistí agus na múinteoirí an-taitneamh as an cheolchoirm!

Lá Glas - Seachtain na Gaeilge

Seachtain na Gaeilge atá ann. Bíonn an rang ag déanamh an-iarracht lena chuid Gaeilge agus bhí ceolchoirm acu ar an Aoine do na thuismitheoirí. Sheinn siad amhráin ar feadóg stáin agus bhí siad ag canadh amhráin freisin! Bhí tráth na gceist acu ar an Déardaoin! Bhí an-spórt againn le linn Seachtain na Gaeilge agus táimid ag tnúth leis an Seachtain na Gaeilge seo chugainn!

Trim Trail

Over the past few weeks we have been doing the Gymnastics strand in P.E. and last week we got the chance to practise the skills we learnt on the Trim Trail in our school playground. Take a look at how well we can balance on hands and feet, travel in different ways and be real gymnasts!
