Exploration Dome - Galway Science Week

Last week, some of the classes in our school were very lucky to participate in the Exploration Dome, as part of Galway Science Week. First we had a little introduction, where we learned about all of the planets and constellations (groups of stars) in the solar system. We learned about what the stars are used for and how to find the North Star. We asked lots of questions and answered some questions that Mike, the presenter, asked us. We then watched a show based on the solar system and weather patterns and it gave us a great idea of what life might be like on other planets in a very real 3D way!

Skipping Workshop

We had great fun learning about all of the skills needed to skip well! We learned that we should use our wrists and hands to move the rope around ourselves and to keep our elbow tucked in and our eyes looking straight ahead. Each time we turned the rope around our bodies, we waited for it to pass our eyes before we jumped to get over the rope. We even practised skipping backwards and to the side. We will use our new skipping skills on the yard at lunchtime and at home in our neighbourhood!
