We love nature

We love learning about nature in our class! We went to the woods and discovered lots of exciting things that happen in autumn. We even found a squirrel searching for food, preparing for hibernation!

School Tour

Last week we travelled to Craggaunowen in County Clare, for our school tour. We sang lots of songs on the journey and were very excited setting off on this big adventure!

When we arrived in Craggaunowen, we had a quick bite to eat before heading off to see the famous castle...

Inside the castle we learned all about weaving wool to make clothes and about how to make dyes, as well as hearing all about the history of the castle, from our tour guide, Geraldine.

We then went to see the crannógs and learned about how people lived in pre-historic times. We even got to climb down into the tunnel under the crannóg

We learnt about how people used to cook their meals in a fulacht fis, using hot stones and water...

We learnt so much about what life was like for people years ago during the Bronze Age through this experience...

After our visit to Craggaunowen, we went to Coole Park and enjoyed the sunshine and had a lovely picnic and played some games in the beautiful walled garden - a great end to a fantastic day!

Spring Walk

Spring is here! Múinteoir Ailish's First class and Múinteoir Denise's Clever Acorns spent a lovely afternoon enjoying the spring sunshine in Merlin Woods and the surrounding area. The children discovered many signs of spring, including spring flowers such as daffodils, dandelions and daisies, as well as finding several buds on the trees! On their trip, the children also found many animal habitats. Spring is a very exciting time in nature, with signs of new life all around us!
